A few days ago I was invited by Raymond of Ang Sarap (A Tagalog word for “It’s Delicious”) to take part in the Seven Link Challenge. The purpose of this challenge is to connect bloggers from all over to share old and forgotten posts that deserve recognition. I am honored to participate.
While reviewing old posts, it was rewarding to see how Savoring Today had improved over the last year and a half (still a young blog by most standards). It was a fun exercise, I hope newer subscribers will appreciate the highlight of older posts and longtime friends enjoy the reminder.
Like any other challenge, there are rules:
1) Blogger who is nominated must publish 7 links of his/her own blog for the categories below (1 link per category).
2) Blogger then nominates 5-7 more bloggers to take part, and it goes on.
1. Most Beautiful Post
New York-Style Blueberry Cheesecake — This certainly did not start beautiful, as you can read in the post, but it ended superbly. Delicious too!
2. Most Popular Post
Shrimp Scampi: Easy & Elegant — This really should be under the category of Most Surprisingly Successful Post as well, because I posted it as a necessity for posting Scampi-Style Tenderloin Steak, which I assumed would be the more popular. With 2560 hits just since January 1300 more than any other post, it is the clear favorite.
3. Most Controversial Post
Homemade Oreos — Okay, it wasn’t exactly controversial, but it did raise quite a stir with my brother-in-law asking (begging really) that I make these during my last visit. There just wasn’t time, so I am still on the hook for next time.
Coupons: How to Avoid Costly Savings
Hours of research and life experience went into this post outlining healthier food choices and practical ways to save money on groceries, which is quite a feat for foodies. 🙂
5. Most Surprisingly Successful Post
That Easy, Go-To Meal: Grilled Tri-Tip Roast — Although it is our family favorite, this post was surprisingly successful with over 1200 hits in just four months.
6. Post That Didn’t Get The Attention It Deserved
Blue Coyote Nachos — I suspect I did not title this post well “Wow Your Super Bowl Crowd with a Platter of Nachos” or the photo didn’t do it justice. Nevertheless, if no one knows about them, they will never know what they are missing. Just 187 measly hits since February … sad. These nachos deserve to be tried and loved.
7: Post I Am Most Proud Of
I was especially pleased to win this competition with an original recipe I worked hard to create and photograph (photography just gives me fits!).
Now to pass-on the Seven Links Challenge to …
1. Christina @ Sweet Pea’s Kitchen
2. Bud @ Older Eyes
3. Colleen @ Drag it Through the Garden
4. Donna @ Simple Seeds of Light and Joy
5. Zo Zhou @ Two Spoons
6. Megan @ Someone Left the Cake Out in the Rain
7. Sammy @ Quick Feet, Good Eats
This challenge was a perfect fit for Feature Fridays, each one of these bloggers are on my subscription list and worthy of a feature. (There are more I would list, but they were already challenged by Raymond.) Not all are food blogs, but they all have something valuable to offer. I have gleaned from each one of them and I hope you do too.
